Project Tutorial

Step 1 – Cut the Lost Lagoon cardstock to 8 1/2″ W x 5 1/2″ H. Score evenly in half at 4 1/4″ and fold. Use your Bone Folder to burnish the fold to get a crisp edge.

Step 2 – Using the Ribbon Madness Weaving Diagram below, weave your ribbon pieces accordingly. Once woven, tighten all ribbon pieces up. Anchor in a few places with liquid glue. Use glue sparingly. It does dry clear but you don’t want to see the glue through the ribbon once dry. This is just to hold it so you can careful turn it over to glue and secure to the Hidden Layer. RESERVE 1 piece of the Lost Lagoon Bordered Ribbon and 1 piece of the Natura Wavy Trim for the inside layer of your card.

Step 3 – Use the Hidden Layer cardstock to turn the woven ribbon over. Carefully slide it under the ribbon and flip it over on your worksurface. Once flipped over, tighten up anything that might have loosened. Put liquid glue on each strip of ribbon. Be careful to not use too much. You don’t need a lot to make this adhere. Lay the Hidden Layer cardstock over it, lightly press it down. Flip it back over. While the glue is still wet, tighten up and straighten any ribbon pieces that are out of place. Once done, press it down with your hand. Hold for about 30 seconds. Set this aside to let the glue fully dry.

Step 4 – Using the 2nd to largest square die from the Stylish Shapes Dies, cut a square in the center of Layer 1, Wild Wheat Cardstock.

Step 5 – Using the largest square die from the Stylish Shapes Dies, cut a square in the center of Layer 2, Basic White Cardstock.

Step 6 – Using the Cane Weave 3D Embossing Folder, emboss Layer 2. HINT: Always emboss AFTER cutting your square in Layer 2. If you emboss first and then die cut, you will flatten the raised embossing.

Step 7 – Using the Hope you Know stamp that starts with “JUST SAYING Thank you” and the Lost Lagoon ink, stamp your sentiment on the Basic White piece of the sentiment tag and set aside. HINT: Before inking the stamp, mask off the rest of the sentiment with scotch tape. Ink the stamp so that only the words “JUST SAYING Thank You” are inked. Peel the scotch tape off BEFORE stamping onto your Basic White cardstock.

Step 8 – Using the large banner die from the Stylish Shapes Dies, die cut the Sentiment Layer 1, Wild Wheat Cardstock. You’re not going to need it to be full length. Using the largest square die from the Stylish Shapes Dies, cut a finised edge into both ends of this piece. The end result is a finished rectangle, just slightly larger than your Basic White Sentiment Layer 2.

Step 9 – Glue the Basic White Sentiment Layer 2 on top of the Wild Wheat Sentiment Layer 1.

Step 10 – You’re going to assemble the front of the card, starting by gluing the square Wild Wheat Layer 1 to the back of the embossed Basic White Layer 2. HINT: When gluing embossed layers, liquid glue (or Tear and Tape if you have it) works best.

Step 11 – Using large craft scissors, cut your ribbon square to about 3 1/2″ W x 3 1/2″ H. You want this layer to be slightly larger than your Wild Wheat opening on the front of the card. Using Scotch Tape, secure this layer to the back of the card front.

Step 12 – Using Foam Adhesive Sheets, cut strips to surround the ribbon layer and cover the back of the card front, leaving an edge of about 1/8″ inch around the entire back of the card front. You don’t want to see the Foam Adhesive Sheets from the front of the card.

Step 13 – Using liquid glue or your Seal+, put a small amount of adhesive on the back of the ribbon layer before adhering all of this to your card base.

Step 14 – Peel the release tape from the Foam Adhesive Sheets and carefully adhere the card front to the base of your card. HINT: Foam Adhesive Sheets are very UNforgiving so make sure your card front is straight before pressing down to your card base.

Step 15 – Using liquid glue, adhere your sentiment tag to the front of the card.

Step 16 – For the inside layer of the card, using Seal+ on the back of the remaining Lost Lagoon Bordered Ribbon, adhere it to the bottom of the layer, about 1/8″ up from the bottom. Using liquid glue on the back of the Natural Wavy Trim, adhere this to the top of the Lost Lagoon ribbon. Press and hold with your hand for about 30 seconds to get it to stick well. HINT: Put your liquid glue straight down the center of the Natural Wavy Trim.

Step 17 – Adhere the inside Basic White layer to the inside of your card.

Step 18 – Using the Earthen Textures and Color & Contour stamps and block D, stamp the images, using the Wild Wheat ink, on the envelope flap of your envelope. HINT: Leave the flap folded down but put a piece of scrap paper between it and the back of your envelope. This will keep you from accidentally stamping on either the front of or back of your envelope.
