Blessings of Home Card #1

November 14, 2021

Finished size: 4 1/4″ W x 5 1/2″ H
Fold Type: Side Fold

Our annual Stampin’ Up! convention (OnStage) was the inspiration for this card, using products from the Heart & Home Suite Collection in the January to June 2022 Mini Catalog (page 58-61).

This suite could be used for a variety of occassions and could be for any look, from rustic and masculine to elegant and feminine. The designer series paper (DSP) in this suite lends itself well to creating quick and easy cards and other projects, letting the DSP do most of the work.

To duplicate this card, products used and measurements, as well as step-by-step instructions, are below.

Imperial Measurements

  • Card Base (Smoky Slate Cardstock) – 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored in half at 4 1/4″
  • Layer 1A (DSP) – 4 1/4″ x 5/16″
  • Layer 1B (DSP) – 4 1/4″ x 3 5/8″
  • Tag (Shimmery White Cardstock) – 3″ x 3/8″
  • Die Cut Image (Shimmery White Cardstock) – 3 1/2″ x 5″
  • Denim Ribbon – 4″ length

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1 – Using the paper trimmer, cut the card base and layers to size. Score the card base for a side fold card.

Step 2 – Fold card base and use the Bone Folder tool to burnish a crisp edge on the fold.

Step 3 – Using the Memento Black ink pad, stamp the large floral stamp onto the larger piece of Shimmery White cardstock. Set aside to allow to dry.

Step 4 – Using the Misty Moonlight ink pad, stamp the sentiment on the smaller piece of Shimmery White cardstock.

Step 5 – Coloring the large floral image was done using sponge daubers. Using a different dauber for each ink color, lightly add color to the image. For small areas, use only the edge of the dauber. Don’t worry about going out of the lines – this is handmade. Do NOT wash sponge daubers when done. Label them and keep them for use with the same ink colors on future projects.

Step 6 – Using the large outline die from the die set, die cut the finished large floral image.

Step 7 – Score the front half ONLY of the Smoky Slate cardstock, starting at the top, at 1/4″, 3/8″, 3/4″, 7/8″ and 1″. From the bottom, score at 1/4″. (TIP: If you want the score line to be raised on the outside of the card, lay your cardstock face down on your scoring tool. If you want the score line to be indented on the outside of the card, lay your cardstock face up on your scoring tool.)

Step 8 – Using the embossing folder, emboss both DSP layers. Make sure the embossing is going with the grain of the wood print on the DSP.

Step 9 – Using the Multipurpose Liquid Glue, adhere the DSP layers to the card front. The skinny DSP layer is placed between the 2nd and 3rd top score lines. The larger DSP layer is placed evenly between the bottom score line at the top and the score line at the bottom of the card front.

Step 10 – Using the Multipurpose Liquid Glue, adhere the Denim Ribbon to the bottom of the large DSP layer.

Step 11 – Using the Multipurpose Liquid Glue, adhere the sentiment to the ribbon and DSP.

Step 12 – Using the Stampin’ Dimensionals, adhere the large floral element to the card front.

Optional:
To have a lighter area for writing inside the card, adhere a Basic White cardstock piece, cut to 4″ x 5 1/4″, to the inside of the card.

To dress up the inside of the card and/or the envelope, consider adding a small stamped image inside the card or on the outside of the envelope or adding coordinating or matching DSP along the bottom edge of the inside of the card or the flap of the envelope.
