Something “Simply” Fancy Thank You Card

The products for todays blog hop are all from our upcoming January – April 2023 Mini Catalog. I love getting a new catalog. It’s like Christmas morning for me. I love seeing the new products and designing projects with them.

As soon as I saw this piece of designer series paper (DSP), I knew it would be GREAT as the base of a card. I love the laid back style and the colors. It’s perfect for a masculine or feminine card.

This “Fancy Flora” DSP is 48 double sided sheets of awesomeness! There are so many colors here to coordinate with our cardstock and ink. It’s really very versatile and is great when you want to “let the DSP do the work” on your projects, just as I did on this one.

The stamp set I chose for this card is one of my new FAVORITES! “Something Fancy” is a set of all sentiments. I love the mix of fonts, giving it both a clean and whimsical look.

With 1/2 a sheet of Basic White and 1/4 sheet of Early Espresso cardstock, 1 sheet of this 6″ x 6″ DSP, and couple of cardstock scraps, it’s easy to see you don’t need to spend a lot of money on products to make beautiful cards. This card is truly “Simple Stamping.” Paper and stamps. No added products needed to get this “simply elegant” look.

Project Tutorial

Step 1 – Cut the Basic White cardstock to size and score and fold at 4 1/4″ to make the card base. Use your Bone Folder to burnish the folded side to get a crisp fold. TIP: Burnishing with the Bone Folder can sometimes leave a shine on the cardstock. For the reason, I always burnish on what will be the back of the card base.

Step 2 – Cut the Early Espresso cardstock to size.

Step 3 – Choose a piece of designer series paper from the Fancy Flora 6″ x 6″ DSP pack and cut it to size, preserving how you want the front of the card to look. For example: On the piece I used, I cut off part of both sides and then from the bottom. I wanted there to be some “white space” both at the top and on the right hand side.

Step 4 – Choose the following two stamps from the Something Fancy Stamp Set: “NOTHING fancy JUST love” and “thank you.”

Step 5 – Cover the word “love” with Scotch Tape.

Step 6 – Using the Early Espresso Stampin’ Pad, ink up the stamp, remove the Scotch Tape, and stamp it onto your scrap piece of Basic White cardstock, toward the top. It should now say “NOTHING fancy JUST”.

Step 7 – Using the Early Espresso Stampin’ Pad, ink up the “thank you” stamp and align it just under what you have stamped and stamp it on the Basic White cardstock. They should flow together like they’re one sentiment.

Step 8 – Cut off the bottom of the Basic White sentiment tag at an angle.

Step 9 – Using your adhesive, glue the Basic White sentiment tag to the Soft Succulent scrap cardstock.

Step 10 – Cut off the bottom of the Soft Succulent at the same angle as the Basic White, but leave a little bit of an edge.

Step 11 – Using your adhesive, glue the Early Espresso cardstock to the top of your card base.

Step 12 – Using your adhesive, glue the DSP to the top of the Early Espresso cardstock.

Step 13 – Using your adhesive, glue your sentiment tag to the front of the DSP layer, inside about 3/4″ in from the left hand side, flush with the top of the DSP.
